Tromsø Polar Nights - Feb 2019

Imagine nights that last 20 hours and weeks without seeing the sun.  That is real life in Northern Norway.  Many think it's the finest time of the year.  Fantastic skyscapes and magical lights.  It truely is a warming experience...a once in a lifetime experience?

Tromsø is pretty in winter- always with the lights on.
We had a little snow this year.

Red whale at the airport.

The State church in town -pretty even when it is snowing.

These fun snow sculptures in the Torv.  This one is a girl watching northern lights from a boat.

A whale playing with seals.

It is early afternoon.

This one is a melting snowman.

One of our favorite spots to get reindeer hot dogs and hot chocolate.

The snow sculptures at 5p that same night.

Farmers market in town.

Everywhere you look there is building going on here.  Building out into the fjord.  Whoever inherits our apartment will lose a beautiful view of the Arctic Chapel

The "super moon" over the city.

Snow on the boats in the harbor made for a picturesque view we thought.

 Mother's Day tulips in Feb.
On a visit to Eide Handel on Kvaløya - Svart Citron Cheese - Black Lemon Cheese. Yum!

Farmer's market every Saturday from 10-2p

Some sights from Tromsdalen back to Tromsøya while helping the elders get some practice driving in preparation to taking their Norwegian Driver's License

Tromsø bridge to Kvaløya.
