Tromsø Golfbane - P-day - Tromsø Zoo?
Tromsø Golfbane
The Tromsø golf course lies about 45 km to the west of Tromsøya. It has a beautiful view of Lyngen alps. 18 holes. It is the world's northern most golf course. There is a nice driving range there also. One may want to play with a colored ball as the white ones could get lost if the snow comes down the mountainside any lower.
For P-day Elder Aland wanted to visit this course since he and his father are avid golfers. So off we went...cold rainy day but lots of fun because of the company we were with....
....also a side detour to see Tromsø zoo...who knew.
If you come in July, early August you can enjoy this scenery |
map of the 18 hole layout, lots of water hazards |
all the modern conveniences are here even if it is out in the middle of nowhere |
view of the driving range |
Mom's favorite part of the gold course, the little cabins (hytte) to enjoy a sauna |
There really is nothing else around but just in case you are lost just follow the directional signs |
It really is a beautiful setting |
need a golf cart - gotcha covered (we saw 4 of them) |
Dad walking down one of the fairways |
lots of sand traps, not sure where they brought the sand in from as most of the northern shores are quite rocky |
The gallery is quite captivated by the action |
Elder Putt & Aland |
everyone headed back to the clubhouse, enough rain and cold for one afternoon |
statue in the clubhouse..he was a real duffer |
sign off the main road to make sure you don't get lost...keep driving and you come to the end of the highway and have to board a ferry to continue on the highway further north to Alta. |
If you need to rest they have little chairs and picnic tables at some of the holes to sit and relax |
Road Trip time!
some more of the scenery on the way to and from the course |
Saw a sign - didn't know Tromsoø had a zoo. Just had to check it out and see what the mini zoo was all about. |
...it's about horses. The mini zoo housed about 30 horses. Dang it...it was closed so we couldn't take a closer look |
Beautiful drive back to Tromsø |
