Setesdalsbanen tour

Setesdalsbanen is a railway line that originally went between Kristiansand and Byglandsfjordin in  Setesdal . The railway was 78 km long. It was built with a track width of 3.5 feet. The track was closed in 1962, but a stretch of 8 km is preserved and is currently run as a museum railway.

Setesdalsbanen is one of the more popular tourist attractions in southern Norway.
The train ride started at Grovane station located outside of Vennesla about an hour car ride from Kristiansand.  It is very close to the lumber slide which we hiked with the YSA a few months ago.

Steam Engine still used for the  the railway trip
