P-Day sights in Sørlandet (Brekkestø, Arendal, Lindesnes) with Missionaries & Friends

“A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.”

Lindesnes Fyr with Sisters Larson & Doxey; Elders Holyoak & Hansen

the wind blows hard on top - here Elders Holyoak & Hansen test how far forward they can lean and still keep their balance standing

Elder Hanson felt something squishy beneath his feet on path by the bunkers and found out it was a frog...sorry he was not long for this life afterwards

had to get a picture of how far it is to Nordkapp since Elder Hanson's previous area was Alta/Hammerfest

Travelled to Arendal for a branch social and saw these sights on the way

another art sculpture that appeared overnight on the Kristiansand harbor beach

tribute to fighter pilots from the war on Harbour beach gardens

Sisters Doxey & Larson

Cascone family in Arendal Branch - He is the ward mission leader in the branch and from Italy originally

Atle & Eric Tamper

We just love the Tamper Family in Bjelland (in front of the Kristiansand church house).  Kari (from Finland) served as the other counselor in the Bishopric with Dad and Ingvild (from Bodø) served in RS presidency with Mom.

Trip to get ice cream with missionaries and Ole Jørgen in Brekkestø

another manhole cover in Brekkestø - this one with a sea theme of anchors

local grocery store - fruits and vegetables are on display

Brekkestø beach & harbor

ice cream kiosk with benches and stairs to sit on in the sun and relax

leaving the town to go for a hike

native norwegian we met along the path

one of the many bunkers found along the coastal regions of Norway built by the Germans during the war occupation

If one was not certain of where to find the bunker...the sign says there is the bunker.  So nice and helpful for us non native Norwegians.

doorway entrance

Norwegians know how to utilize every space possible for enjoying the view.  Here is a patio on the topside of a bunker

time for a little sun and relaxation

everyone survived the hike

views are always stunning from anywhere along the roads

One of our favorite friends we made in Kristiansand.  She is such a classy lady and the backbone of the ward.  Sister Borghild Anderson

Borghild always is treating us and the missionaries to great food and wonderful conversations

Even, Ewe (new YSA just moved to Kristiansand from Finland; Sister Cook

Geese & Swans wandering into the parking lot
