Troll Sighting ahead!

 Senjatrollet is an adventure center and a tourist attraction on outer Senja in Troms . The troll , which runs on Finnsæter in Berg municipality , rises17.96 meters above the ground and weighs 125 tons. It is recorded in Guinness Records Book (1997) as the world's largest troll

It was June 1, 1993 that the Senjatroll, based on an old story, opened its doors, already knowing the existing Hulderheimen cultural center . A troll park is also part of the troll, and inside the troll itself there is a separate adventure world divided into two floors.

 We were not expecting this adventure as we came across this unbeknownst to us.  Dad caught sight of this adventure park out of the side of his eye as he came around a corner and made everyone stop and turn around to visit.   He has a love of trolls if you haven't already noticed.  

 This discovery had him in second heaven...

Kvaløya - Sommarøy

Sommarøy  is an old  fishing village  in the western part of  Tromsø Municipality  in  Troms  county,  Norway .  It is located about 36 kilometres (22 mi) west of the  city of Tromsø  and is a popular tourist destination due to its white sand beaches and scenery. The village has a population of about 300. The  fishing village  of Sommarøy covers the island of  Store Sommarøya  as well as part of the neighboring island of  Hillesøya  and many smaller surrounding islands. The village is a typical fishing village with great local fishing fleets and substantial fish processing and other industries. Tourism is also important in Sommarøy. Viking Borre Mounds - Horten

Borre mound cemetery  (Norwegian:  Borrehaugene)   We visited these burial grounds at Horten in Vestfold, Norway on our way back to Kristiansand from the zone conference, about a half hour off the main road home.  It is the largest burial mound site in Northern Europe. Borre National Park is home to the most extensive collection of king’s graves in Scandinavia. It is home to seven large and 21 smaller burial mounds. Excavations in the 1980s revealed that the oldest mounds may date to 600 AD, even prior to the Viking Age. They have developed a nice little museum were once there was only the mounds when Dad first served in Norway that give visitors a taste of viking life in that period.  This museum is a smaller scale version of the large one we visited on Lofoten but very nice and we had a personal tour since there were only about 3 families there at the time. P-Day Hikes - Kvaløya - Kattfjordeidet

Most P-days the younger missionaries love to get out and hike.   We try and keep up and hike with them... Kvaløya   is  Norway's  fifth largest island.  The whole island is located in  Tromsø  municipality.  The largest population centers are: Kvaløysletta ,  Storelva ,  Kaldfjord , Brennholmen  and  Ersfjordbotn , but there are scattered settlements along the coast over almost the entire island.  There is also a population of about 600 Reindeer on the island.
