Norwegians love their moose burgers

There were two talking moose heads at the Christmas market - They were hilarious to listen to them banter back and forth with each other and sing carols.  I have a video but again it's too large to load to the blog it says so we will have to show it when we come home (not that you may understand it - they are speaking Norsk - who would have thought)

ice rink and ferris wheel at the market

vendor selling various merchandise - arts and crafts, candy, clothing, cheeses, etvc.

Children and groups had different singing and dancing programs for the passersby

Fire pits are available at various locations.  You can sit on a sheep or reindeer skin log and warm up

Some sights from around town walking on Karl Johans Gate.  Everything is very clean and beautiful even in the winter months

Thor's hammer

Statue - tribute to the visitors I guess

Nobel Peace Museum - Closed because the ceremonies were being held that weekend

Statue of Franklin Roosevelt on wharf in Oslo - he was held in high regard in Norway after the war for his defence of the Norwegian people.  A Leland Stowe had written a newspaper article that was printed in many papers in America very negative about Norway and implying that they did nothing to stop the German invasion.  Roosevelt replied: "
If there is anyone who still wonders why this war is being fought, let him look to Norway. If there is anyone who has any delusions that this war could have been averted, let him look to Norway; and if there is anyone who doubts the democratic will to win, again I say, let him look to Norway.
