Another p-day hike to surrounding areas in Sørlandet.   This time we went to a little island about 15 minutes from our home. most of the beautiful colors are faded or gone now we are heading into winter, but the hikes are still quite enjoyable. trolls may be anywhere hiding in the country so one must be careful where one goes.  Here is one grinning waiting for the unsuspecting. not quite like cascade springs but similar, they have built little walkways through parts of the island to avoid having to walk through the swampy areas. careful for the rock trolls, they may appear at anytime Mom keeps wondering where all the wildlife is, she finally caught one on camera.  We did see a beautiful large red squirrel on this hike but were too slow with the camera. the only way to get to the island is either by boat or through this tunnel which runs a couple of miles under the sea. The descent is pretty steep so you have to

Senior Missionary Conference - Oslo 2017

We spent three wonderful days in Oslo recently with all of the Senior Couple Missionaries serving in Norway.   What a blessing in our life to get to meet and get to know these wonderful couples who serve with us in Norway.  We are amazed at the talented people the Lord has prepared to serve the Norwegian people.  Our hearts are overwhelmed with love for them and the younger missionaries who are serving.  We were fed spiritually and emotionally by their examples and the opportunity to feel the spirit as we were taught about our responsibilities and the love of our Saviour. The sisters are always found trying to keep us physically fed while we are being spiritually fed.  They are amazing beautiful daughters of God.  Their hearts are so full of love and service. We have grown to love exploring the Norwegian Folk Customs.    We recently had the opportunity as part of Senior Missionary Couples Conference in Oslo to visit and explore the Norwegian Folk Museum there.   They have reconstructed and moved original pieces of Norwegian Folk lore there so one can get a glimpse of most of the Norwegian regions, their history, customs and folk art.   It was a very interesting day spent with everyone. ornate carvings on their buildings and in their homes is amazing rosmaling artwork on their furniture is absolutely beautiful reminds me of many of the towns when I first served in Norway most homes were built on . stilts to allow access to the home when severe winter storms came through or flooding occurred depending on where in the country they lived. inside a typical home.  Beds were small because they would sleep curled up in a ball during the cold nights. typical f
