Arendal

District Meeting was held in Arendal in October
Arendal is a town and municipality in the county of Aust-Agder, Norway. Arendal belongs to the region of Sørlandet.

Arendal is located about an hour from Kristiansand to the northeast.

Sorry girls, we looked all over but couldn't find the castle from Frozen

This is very typical in coastal cities of Norway.  They build their houses on top of the rocky
hillsides

The older parts of town still have the cobblestone streets which reminds Dad of Pittsburgh.

Inside the city Domkirke

As you can see we love to see the inside and outside of the old churches.  They are similiar in many ways but still unique.  You will notice the organs are not quite as large as the ones in the Tabernacle or Conference Center.

Again the Ship hangs from the ceilings of most churches.  Each ship is also unique.  Im memory of and for good luck in bringing the people safely home from the sea.

The stain glass windows are also a little different than each other.

Mom is fascinated with the various and different doors so you will find we include a lot of them also.

The architectural structures on the outside of the churches are unique and are also fascinating to view.  This is Trefoldighetskirken (Church of the Holy Trinity).  The original city church was built in 1670 then demolished and the new one built in 1888.

another view of the fjord that the city is built around.

This is the front entrance to the LDS branch meeting house.

It occupies the whole 2nd level which is rented from the auto sales dealer

The Kristiansand District Missionaries - Sisters Peterson & Belus, Elders Nelson, Arnesen (all in Kristiansand); Elders Spencer & Brooks (In Arendal)

This is for the boys - It's the local Harley Davidson club house.
