Service Project after floods - Svendsen family

Southern Norway has seen an extraordinary amount of rain this fall.  It ended up causing flooding in Kristiansand.  We were not affected as we are up on the 2nd level and close to where the river empties into the ocean.  We did have to boil water for a couple of days though because the city water supply was contaminated by the high waters. local hospital basement This is the Otra river about a 1/2 mile upstream from our place. This is Salmon falls we had pictures of under Rønning entry earlier - the storms completely flooded the factory there and covered all the farm lands and countryside. Clean up at the Svendsen's - Nice to offer some service. Their farm is about 6-8 feet above the normal river level but they ended up with a foot of water in the basement of their home with the flood from all the rain.  It had been 150 years since they had seen that much rain. District Meeting was held in Arendal in October Arendal is a town and municipality in the county of Aust-Agder, Norway. Arendal belongs to the region of Sørlandet.  Arendal is located about an hour from Kristiansand to the northeast. Sorry girls, we looked all over but couldn't find the castle from Frozen This is very typical in coastal cities of Norway.  They build their houses on top of the rocky hillsides The older parts of town still have the cobblestone streets which reminds Dad of Pittsburgh. Inside the city Domkirke As you can see we love to see the inside and outside of the old churches.  They are similiar in many ways but still unique.  You will notice the organs are not quite as large as the ones in the Tabernacle or Conference Center. Again the Ship hangs from the ceilings of most churches.  Each ship is also unique.  Im memory of and for good luck in bringing the people safely home from the sea.
