Tromsø Gren Activities & Friends - Member Missionary Work

  Saints read-a-thon !     Members of the Tromsø Gren participated in the world wide read-a-thon of the Saints in preparation for the Face2 Face event with Elder Cook (Kate Holbrook & Matt Grow) by reading the newly-released book Saints: The Story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . We participated one week later so we could watch the fireside which was broadcast early Monday morning at 2am in Norway. We had access to all of Vol 1 in English on our tablets...but only the 1st 7 chapters had been translated into Norwegian and available in the Liahona & Norwegian language Gospel Library app at this time.  We gathered on a Friday Night and Saturday Evening. We read as much of the book as we could together and discussed our impressions, as well as had snacks and a lot of fun. Prestvannet - Tromsø Lake Prestvannet is a small lake on the highest point on the central part of the island of Tromsøya in the city of Tromsø in Troms county, Norway. Prestvannet was built up as a reservoir in 1867, and continued in that function until 1921. Since then it has been used as park land and a nature reserve.The pond area, just next to a big city has been preserved as a nesting place for various birds. The pond and its surrounding wooded area is an important natural area for the Tromsø area. Encircling the pond, is a track commonly used for recreational activities and sports, as well as a nature trail with plaques informing about the local wildlife.                                                In the winter, the frozen pond is a popular place for ice skating.  Hundreds of different ducks and birds flock to the lake    ...
